Frequently Asked Questions

Does Vinylarea buy or sell vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, or other physical/digital music formats?

Vinylarea does not sell or buy goods.

The portal provides users with the opportunity to buy, sell, and exchange vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, and other music formats among themselves.

How is the price of an item determined on the website?

The price of a listed item is determined by the Vinylarea user — the seller of the item.

If there are multiple offers for the same record, Vinylarea displays all offers for that record in the catalog.

If I'm not satisfied with the price, how can I send my price offer to the seller on Vinylarea?

If the item was listed with the option to send price offers (negotiate),there will be an icon next to the price — circular arrows.

In this case, you can click the "Buy" button to send your price offer. The seller can accept or decline it, and you will receive a notification about the seller's decision.

If the item was listed with a fixed price, without the option to negotiate — you will not be able to send your price offer.

Can I exchange a release (vinyl, CD, cassette, and other physical formats) using the Vinylarea marketplace?

Yes, the marketplace has exchange functionality.

If the seller is interested in an exchange, they can:
  • Specify what exactly they are interested in for exchange
  • Open access for your offers — then you propose an item for exchange yourself
There is also an additional payment feature for exchanges — available for both the buyer and the seller.

How is delivery and payment for a record handled?

There are several payment and delivery options for users from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. For users from other countries, only the "By Agreement" method is currently available.

By Agreement — payment and delivery terms depend entirely on the mutual agreement between the seller and the buyer.

Online Payment — payment for the item is made only by bank transfer to the seller's Vinylarea balance. Delivery — only to an Omniva parcel locker using a code generated in the Vinylarea system.

Who pays for delivery on Vinylarea when using the "Online Payment and Omniva Delivery" method?

After the buyer has paid for the ordered item, they need to select the parcel locker to which delivery will be made.

After the parcel locker is selected and sent to the seller, — the seller pays for delivery, generates a shipping code and label. Using the code or printed label, the seller ships the item to the buyer.

How much does it cost to use Vinylarea?

Listing an item on Vinylarea is free.

A commission is charged for online transfers when processing a sale using the Vinylarea payment system. A separate fixed fee is charged for Omniva delivery.

When using the "By Agreement" method, using Vinylarea is free.

Learn more about commissions and delivery costs on the "Pricing" page.

What should I do if the release I need is in the catalog but there are no offers for it?

Then potential sellers will see your interest, and when offers appear, you will receive a notification by email.

What is EAN?

EAN (European Article Number) is an international standard product number, a unique identifier. It is assigned to each product from the moment of its release.

The EAN number consists of 13 digits (less commonly — 8 digits for small items).

Where can I find the EAN number?

The EAN number is usually located on the back of the packaging next to the barcode. Sometimes it is also placed on the inside of the cover or insert.

When registering or searching for a product on the site, the EAN number must be entered without hyphens or spaces.

What is a release catalog number (cat#)?

Catalog number (catalog number / cat#) is a unique code assigned to a release (vinyl, CD, cassette) by the publisher to identify a specific edition.

Where can I find the catalog number (catalog number / cat#)?

The catalog number is always present on physical media and their packaging, but its location depends on the format.

  • On the side spine
  • On the CD itself — on the printed side or near the inner ring (hub)
